Project description: Charles Elton (1954) proposed that a major reason for the success of biological invasions is that the invaders escape specialist herbivores that inhibit their population growth and size in their home environment. In this project we test whether physiological and evolutionary evidence supports this long standing and broadly cited hypothesis.
